Once Upon a Place… Storytelling has ancient roots in both Irish and Anatolian cultures. In this TANDEM project "Once upon a place..." storytelling was used as a unique collaboration and exchange experience. Bilingual (Turkish and English) stories were developed (one from Ireland, one from Turkey) using tandem telling methods in the two selected districts of Istanbul and Dublin. In these districts, several telling performances were organised that aimed to encourage local communities to express their own voices in public space. The project highlighted the similarity and differences of Irish and Anatolian oral traditions and built a cultural bridge between traditional storytelling cultures and modern urban life.
