CAPTURING IDENTITIES "Capturing Identities" was a community project developed by Filmoteca de Catalunya (Catalonia) and Photography Foundation (Turkey). The project intended to use image as a tool for local social change, working at the same time mutual understanding, social empowerment, and to break down prevailing stereotypes through Media Literacy. During the 2013-14 scholar year, two groups of 15-17 years old youth from similar neighborhoods in Barcelona and Istanbul (Raval and Galata, both historic and very diverse areas in the urban-centers) worked the issue of identity and sense of belonging using photography exchanges. They finally build a collaborative exhibition held in Istambul and Barcelona in June 2014 (and re-opened in Barcelona in May 2015). project website Tandem Turkey 2013-14 Community development cultural exchange Diversity Education (formal & non-formal) Empowerment Global & Local Identity Migration Social cohesion Youth & Children Barcelona İstanbul Film & Cinema Media Photography Videos and Photographs Youth Audiovisual documentation Co-creation Noemà Sas Castilleja Educational Services & Publications of Filmoteca de Catalunya Barcelona, Spain The Filmoteca de Catalunya is a film archive in Catalunya, Spain.
