Why Tandem?

Tandem is a cultural collaboration programme that strengthens civil society in Europe and neighbouring regions.

Tandem is for people working in culture and civil society

From Berlin to Beirut, throughout wider Europe, participants join from a variety of places and communities. For example, a theatre director based in Tunis can work with a curator based in Sofia on developing a project about representation of refugees in the city.

While building a collaborative project, both partners commit to the process of working together, to share their expertise and to learn from each other.

Towards building trust and democratic spaces

Tandem offers a space to build real, meaningful and sustainable relationships that can grow through shared artistic interests, enthusiasm for creative discovery and the joy of making things happen together.

We believe these experiences can contribute to increasing empathy, breaking stereotypes and shaping a common language.

Our vision is to see networks of creative communities emerge from this programme, and support the impact of their ongoing efforts.
