Valentin and Idoumou in the Berlin S-Bahn Idoumou and Valentin ask: Can we afford a vision? Tandem Shaml participants Mohamed Idoumou from Maison des cinĂ©astes (Nouakchott, Mauritania) and Valentin Schmehl from Other Music Academy (Weimar, Germany) have worked on Can we afford a vision, asking what it takes to follow a vision of cultural empowerment in two very different contexts. In a short video taken in the Berlin S-Bahn, Valentin and Idoumou tell us about their project's next steps. After completing their Tandem Collaboration, Idoumou and Valentin have started working on a Documentary Film based on their initial project: “Can We Afford A Vision?” They met again in Germany to start a new artistic collaboration: the translation of Idoumou’s poetry into German and French, as well as into calligraphy and dance. During their Tandem placements, they met with artists, and two of them are joining their endeavours: Lucian Patermann based in Leipzig, and Ilana Reynold based in Magdeburg/Berlin. Do we live in cynical times? Are visions good? and many more questions will be part of their journey as they talk to all kinds of people to learn about their vision. For now, watch Valentin and Idoumou tell us more as they travel in the S-Bahn.
