ARCADIA

Arcadia Leeuwarden Fryslan 2028

Arcadia ran the activities of Fryslân-Leeuwarden European Capital of Culture in 2018 - LF2018. With no fewer than 220 major events and about 800 community based initiatives, Arcadia got moving and more than 65,000 Frisians contributed to the Fryslân of the future. Arcadia is fueling the desire for that land and thinking about how its citizens can be good ancestors for generations to come. Together with the mienskip (community), artists and culture makers question this desire in order to offer new perspectives. The foundation laid by the Capital of Culture is thus continued with the objective of realizing a high-quality living and business climate in the rural region, for the long term. This year, 2022, Arcadia presents the first edition of the Arcadia Triennal. This sequel to LF2018 consists of a 100-day cultural program in which the organization draws attention to the future of mienskip, landscape and heritage. Arcadia 2022 will run from May 6 to August 14, 2022.
