Workshop in Palermo. Photo via bepart.net New Ways of Urban Regeneration Joris Iaccarino (Bepart, Milan) and Marta Klepo (IN PLACE, Zagreb) have focused their Tandem partnership on what they do best: being actors in urban regeneration, involving their communities in the decision-making process and facilitating communication between the city and the citizens. They have applied their passion and skills into their Tandem project: Light Path. Joris and Marta present Light Path at the Tandem Europe Final Meeting (January 2017, Athens). Photo by Constanze Flamme Light Path has developed a prototype for an experiential modelling workshop format where participants develop and create artistic and cultural content designed for urban spaces. Artists, architects and graphic designers have participated in the “Call for (AR)tist” workshop hosted by the Modern Art Gallery of Palermo. They have adopted street artworks around the city for which they designed and realised new digital animations that can be seen through augmented reality. Workshop in Palermo. To participate in the workshop, participants were required to have a basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Final Cut. Participants are introduced to the context of public space, augmented reality, and artistic creation. In order for the participants to become authors and create their own works, we have created some drawing tools and included training in drawing with Photoshop and working with Final Cut. This first workshop took place in Palermo, Sicily and the result of the workshop is “Palermo augmented city”, presented on 14 May 2017. It is a prototype of a new type of urban tour that involves already present street art and a second narrative level created by the workshop participants. This is an incentive to create a new type of tourism: artistic, urban and technological. www.streetartfactory.eu www.streetartfactory.eu The contents of this street art enhancement path of the city of Palermo were produced during the 3-day workshop, involving 25 participants selected from 42 applications. Each of the 25 participants produced at least one content from a total of 30 that were added to the tour. The success of the idea and prototype was recognised and newly adopted by the city of Milan where it will also be implemented. Now the dream is to replicate this format in all the great capitals to enhance urban spaces and art in public spaces!
