Young Citizen Journalists Report on Mediterranean Climate Change.

Young Citizen Journalists Report on Mediterranean Climate Change.

Young Citizen Journalists Report on Mediterranean Climate Change. Climate change is a fluid situation that will increasingly demand greater responsiveness and communication between communities that are experiencing different effects from the same phenomenon. Both ADAM and Bokra Sawa work with youth populations to raise awareness about the local and regional issues that affect their communities. They use the creative tools of non-formal education—which include elements of art, culture and science—to offer new ways for Mediterranean youth to think about the world they live in. The idea of this project is to run a multimedia workshop that will train 8 young citizen journalists. Young people are the agents of change and arming them with media and technology skills empowers them to create awareness in the broader community. In this workshop they will investigate the region’s water scarcity as an example of climate change and discuss its causes and impacts on the community and they will create documentaries videos. As citizen journalists, young reporters will interact with scientists, agricultural and environmental researchers, farmers, and their fellow citizens as they investigate and document increasing water scarcity in the region and they contemplate its long-term effects.
